ArticSoft has launched its new Central Administration solution that delivers powerful encryption management controls and capabilities to its popular FileAssurity OpenPGP products. Enterprises are now able to precisely manage their users whilst retaining all the control and flexibility of working with easy-to-use, comprehensive, strong security products.
Central Administration delivers functions such as setting fine-grained policy rules, supporting information recovery, enabling roaming users, user keystore backup and recovery, letting administrators change policies for issued keystores and re-validating user keys. These features are typically only provided by high-cost, high-end products.
“We have set out to demystify the whole cryptography business,” says Steve Mathews, CEO of ArticSoft. “Using Central Administration, any IT administrator can get a system in and running in under half an hour using nothing more complex than an MSSQL database. The generation wizard takes care of the details.”
Central Administration also delivers key business features such as Group keys. These allow administrators to define logical groups such as HR, accounts and, sales, for example, that need to share or make available secure encrypted information throughout the group. This is an invaluable addition to workflow systems, or allowing customers to deal with an entire business function such as accounts or sales.
The administrator can also impose information recovery on a user, so that with the authority of two other administrators, any information encrypted by that user can be recovered, whether it is a file or e-mail.
Other policy options allow administrators to stop users from generating their own digital identities, prevent them from deleting keys the administrator has issued them with and even hide keys from users so they can receive information without being able to use the keys that allow them to decrypt it automatically. This means that management can issue information to groups of individuals with perfect security.
Further policies prevent users from taking private keys elsewhere, or from bringing other identities into the system and can make sure that roaming users are properly supported.
Other benefits for the enterprise include the ability to generate its own identity keys without restrictions, manage users in groups rather than having to have a single organizational policy and to have user revocation enforced by default rather than relying on the complexity of PKI-type services.
“ArticSoft FileAssurity OpenPGP Central Administration allows any enterprise to take advantage of digital signature and encryption services without having to get involved in the technical complexities and high costs of PKI solutions,” says Steve Matthews: “It can be up and running with a full service in under 30 minutes for an SME and not much longer for the largest scale organization.”
Prices start at $165 per client, with discounts for volume quantities.
