Using ContentAssurity

ContentAssurity GUI

When ContentAssurity first loads ContentAssurity GUI is displayed:




Menu Options

File

Exit
Exits ContentAssurity.


Edit

Cut
Cuts the selected content to the clipboard.

Copy
Copies the selected content to the clipboard.

Paste
Pastes content from the clipboard into ContentAssurity. See below for a more detailed explanation.

Select All
Selects all of the content in the window.


Security

Key Management
Displays the Key Manager dialog where you manage your own, other peoples, and Trusted Authorities keys.

Help

Help
Displays the ContentAssurity help guide (this manual).

About
Displays ContentAssurity's version number.


Toolbar



Sign As
The key displayed in this list box is the one currently selected for signing content. You can select the appropriate key from the drop-down list box. Only keys belonging to you are displayed in this list box. If 'Not selected' is displayed then content will not be signed.  




Protect For
The key displayed in this list box is is for the person(s) or group you want this content protected for. You can select the appropriate key from the drop-down list box. Keys belonging to you and other people are displayed in this list box. If you select 'Multiple Recipients' you will be able to make a selection from all the recipients you have available. If 'Not selected' is displayed then content will not be protected.  

NOTE:  If this is the first time you have used ContentAssurity then the value in both of these fields will always be set to ‘Not selected’.  On subsequent uses, the keys you last selected will be displayed.

 Secure
Clicking on this button protects and/or signs the content selected in the ContentAssurity window using the keys displayed in the 'Sign As' and 'Protect For' list boxes and automatically copies it to the clipboard.

 Unprotect & Verify
Clicking on this button pastes content from the clipboard into ContentAssurity and automatically unprotects/verifies it (assuming you have the correct keys).

If you are currently editing content in the window you will be asked if you wish to replace the content you are editing with the new content on the clipboard. If you say 'yes' then the new content is created and shown in the window.  Any edits you have made to the previous content are lost.

   Archive Content
If this button is enabled then the content you have selected for protection and/or signing and unprotection/verification is automatically saved to the content archive where it is stored for future use. If this button is not enabled then your protected/signed content will not be saved to the content archive and will be lost when you unprotect/verify the next content you receive.


Toolbar Icons

Cut Content
Cuts the selected content to the clipboard.  If you want to quickly select all of the content choose 'Select All' from the Edit menu.

Copy Content
Copies the selected content to the clipboard.  If you want to quickly select all of the content choose 'Select All' from the Edit menu and then press copy.

Paste Content
Pastes content from the clipboard into ContentAssurity at the location of the cursor.  If content has been highlighted then it is replaced by the clipboard content.

If the content in the clipboard is ContentAssurity protected then it is automatically unprotected/verified (assuming you have the correct keys) as it is pasted into ContentAssurity.

New Content
Clears the content window so you can create new content.

Edit Content
Lets you edit the current content in the content window.

Re-paste Secure Content
Use this option if the contents of the clipboard have been over-written by another application and you need to re-paste the secure content to the clipboard.

Subject


Enter a subject (label) so that you and your recipients can identify the content topic easily.  The subject field is displayed in the content archive and you can search for it by the subject you enter here.
