Using FAOPGP
The FAOPGP CLS Script Editor
The FAOPGP CLS script editor provides an easy method of creating, editing, and saving scripts and command line parameters. Existing scripts can also be opened and edited and scripts can be scheduled to run at a later time and date.
Command line scripts can be as simple or as complex as you desire and are not complex to set up or to run. A script can consist of a single line or multiple lines of command line parameters. The same script file can contain command line parameters to retrieve and decrypt files from an FTP server or to upload newly encrypted files to that server or another FTP server.
A script can also delete the original source (unprotected) files if you wish from the local disk or a remote server. Or it might simply be used to encrypt files in certain folders every night for backup purposes or for securely deleting files stored on the network that are past their retention date.
To start the script editor select FileAssurity OpenPGP CLS from the Windows Start menu.
Once you have logged on, the following window will be displayed :
To start a new script, press the
button. This will invoke the command editor. Additional command line parameters can be created by pressing this button.
Menu Options
File
New
Starts a new script. Any command line parameters displayed in the window are removed.
Open
Opens an existing script.
Save
Saves the existing script.
Save As
Saves the existing script to a new filename.
Close
Exits the application.
Tools
Key Manager
Opens up the Key Manager. See Key Manager.
Schedule script
Opens up the script scheduler so that you can schedule a script to run at a later date/time. See script scheduler.
View scheduled scripts
Opens up the script scheduler task list where you can view and edit existing schedules. See script scheduler.
Buttons![]()
Executes the command line parameters displayed in the window. See Testing your script.![]()
Adds a new line of command parameters to an existing or new script. A new line is automatically added to a script after you have pressed the
button in the Command Editor. See command editor.![]()
Edits the existing command line parameters. To edit existing command line parameters, place your cursor anywhere on the line of the script you want to edit and press this button. After editing a script you will be prompted to save before it is run.
