Using the GUI

1) Select the 'Secure delete' checkbox in the command editor.  If you have just selected this option on it's own then all of the 'Options' section apart from the Log file will be greyed out.

2) In the Input Files/ Directories section press the 'Browse' button to search for the files and folders you want to securely delete. If you want to securely delete subfolders highlight the 'Recursive' checkbox.  If you want to want to securely delete certain types of files (say .doc for example) then you can do this by entering the folder and file type in the 'Input Files / Directories' field and pressing the 'Add' button.  Example 'C:\Test2\*.doc'

3) Decide if you want to audit this action - see log file audit.

WARNING: Secure deletion of files will take place when the command parameters are executed.  You will not be asked to confirm this action and files cannot be recovered once this process has completed !

NOTE: FAOPGP CLS carries out the Secure Delete function in compliance with the US Government DOD 5520.22-M standard. This requires that a file is overwritten multiple times with patterns to prevent detection of the original magnetic recording.

FAOPGP CLS exceeds this standard by performing a 15 x write and wipe cycle. FAOPGP CLS also performs a number of additional steps in order to defeat commercial file recovery programs carrying out functions similar to the Windows Wastebasket.
