Access control security is the generic name given to the way in which access to files or web sites can be restricted to authorized individuals. Typical access control products and access control systems work by providing a challenge/response before they grant file access or folder access. This means that the user has to keep entering information (typically ID and password) each time they want access. This applies whether they want to access a file, access a folder or access web resources.

ArticSoft products provide you with very strong methods for implementing seamless access control for information, whether it is stored in files on your desktop, content within documents, in archives on servers or on web pages that are publicly accessible. Unauthorized access to your files, content, and web pages is prevented via the use of strong encryption.

Access to protected information is granted via the use of keys that are stored in a keystore. Once users have logged onto their keystore, protected information (for which they possess the keys) is automatically decrypted without further need for authentication.


File & Folder Access Control

FileAssurity ensures that only authorized users can access files and folders. Whether you are storing or sending files only users that possess the correct keys in their keystore will be able to access them. Access can be limited to an individual or to lists of individuals in order to provide very fine-grained access control.


Web / Internet Access Control

WebAssurity provides security access control by allowing a web site administrator to authorize access to specific parts of web sites or pages to individuals or groups of users. For users who possess the correct key(s) in their keystore the information is transparently decrypted in their browser. This ensures that information passing over the web cannot be hacked by any attacker, unlike many Internet access control systems today. In fact to ensure maximum security, keys are never transmitted over the Internet and web pages are only ever transmitted in their encrypted form.


Content Access Control

ContentAssurity enables you to grant or deny access to content regardless of the application being used. Parts (or all) of documents, spreadsheets, e-mails, instant messages, etc. can be protected so that only authorized users can access them.  Different parts of the same document can be encrypted using different keys ensuring a fully flexible access control security system.
